Membership Overview

Joining Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) gives you access to a range of business services, from networking events, consultancy, advocacy, mediation & legal advisory. The Chamber chose the theme “Corporates for Change” and is focused on promoting sustainable social, economic, financial and environmental initiatives, projects and business through four key elements – sustainable change, ease of doing business, diversity and inclusion, and Mumbai 4.0.

  1. The Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry is India’s premier chamber of commerce and industry located in Mumbai, which is the country’s industrial, financial and commercial capital. Established in 1836,it is one of the oldest operating Chambers in the nation.
  2. The Chamber provides a forum for interaction of its members and formation of considered industry opinions and viewpoints. These are done under the aegis of the Board of the Chamber and Subject Committees.
  3. The Chamber has played a significant role in supporting the development of industries in Mumbai and outside over the last several decades. The Chamber serves as an effective vehicle of communication between the regulatory bodies, the corporate and the society. It collaborates with other Industry associations and thus increases its reach to the decision makers beyond boundaries of Mumbai. It also supports a large base of Micro Small and Medium enterprise members and contributes effectively towards overall development of its member companies by addressing core issues and remaining responsive to the needs of business.
  4. The Chamber provides services to its members through dissemination of information, publications, special studies and through activities like organizing business delegations, Webinars , seminars and training programs. We host a variety of Conclaves, webinars, workshops, and events with a panel of distinguished and experienced individuals from many industries and sectors. These activities serve our members not only in terms of gaining essential insights, but also in terms of networking with like-minded individuals and assisting them in empowering and adapting to ever-changing business conditions.

Based on annual turnover

  • The annual subscription shall be payable in advance at the beginning of each financial year on 1st April
  • Corporate Members & associates  will pay pro-rated subscription fees based on date of joining.
  • Associates limited  will pay for the financial year irrespective of date of joining
  • Cheque/Demand Draft should be drawn in favor of “Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry”
  • Members are entitled to hold office / represent the Chamber in public bodies
  • Associates are not entitled to hold office / represent the Chamber in public bodies
  • Associates limited (Limited services of Certificate of Origin, Visa letter facilitation & allied documentation).

FAQ

1. What are the categories of membership available?

2. Can an Individual become a Member of BCCI?
No

3. Is there a lifetime membership?
No

4. Can a branch of a foreign company become a member?
Yes

5. What is the subscription amount?

Subscription amount is payable annually is based on financial year (April – March)
Note:
a. The above are existing rates and liable for change as and when the General Body decides
b. Service Tax rates will change as per Governments notifications.
c. Cheque / DD favoring The Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry

6. If we join during the middle of the year, will there be any concession?

There will not be any concession on Entrance fee and the entire applicable amount has to be paid; but the Annual Fees will be calculated Pro rata from the date of joining till 31st March.

7. Do we require the introduction from the existing members to become a member?

An introduction of 2 existing members of the Chamber is compulsory. One should propose the other should second. The authorized signatory of the organization has to sign and affix the seal on the Membership Application Form.

8. What type of documents do we need to submit?
 Annual Report / Balance sheet
 Partnership deed / registration certificate
 Or any other related document

9. How long does it take to admit the company as a member?
The applications are referred to the Membership Committee of the Chamber for consideration. The Committee meets once a month.

10. What services can I expect if I become a member?

 As a member you will receive regular communications from us on latest updates in policies, GOs. etc.
 You can participate in our workshops, seminars training programs.
 If you are an exporter, BCCI, being an authorized Chamber, can issue Non-Preferential Certificate of Origin.
 Issuance of visa recommendation letters for your employees
 As a member you can have access to our expert committee expertise
 Interaction with Government authorities, foreign delegates

11. In what way will you assist us to develop our business?

Chamber’s prime objective is to help members to grow. We provide market intelligence, lobby for business-friendly policies, take up your genuine problems with concerned authorities, organize business promotional meetings and delegations, disseminate information on potential business.

12. Is there any conference room facility available in your Chamber?

Yes, with a following seating capacity

Banquet Hall – 40 persons round table (less than 40)

Banquet Hall – 75-80 theatre style (more than 40)

Ruby Meeting Room – 14 Seater

13. Can I be a Member of your Expert Committees?

Yes, once you are a member, your company can nominate your Executives to be a member of our various Expert Committees.

14. How do we get the Certificate of Origin through BCCI ? what are the supporting documents we should give?

There are prescribed forms for the Certificate of Origin A set means five forms the cost of which is Rs. XX You should fill the form and have it signed and submit it to the Chamber along with the relevant, Invoice/Packing List. On the basis of the information submitted, the Chamber issues the Certificate of Origin – this is done at the quickest time possible.

15. Do you certify any other documents?
Yes we do. (e.g. MOAs, agreements, etc.).

16. Do you have any dispute redressal mechanism?

Yes. The Chamber conducts arbitration for speedy redressal of commercial disputes. It has a Panel of Arbitrators.
