Introduction

Private Equity and Venture Capital funds have emerged as a potential source of capital for many firms. They have been facilitating the productive use of existing assets and resources, usually by identifying companies with untapped potential and reorganizing their operations in ways that increase their value. Over the years, they have made their presence felt in the Indian economy too.

The financial markets have been a long–standing determinant in the overall economic growth of any country. Stable and mature capital markets, both primary and secondary, create efficient capital raising opportunities for companies and also assist in channelizing domestic savings towards capital formation—fueling a nation’s economic growth. Capital Markets in India have evolved dramatically over the years and are seeing continued increase in participation from domestic institutions, FII’s and retail investors.

And hence the Private Equity, Venture Capital and Capital Markets Committee of Bombay Chamber aims to provide constant advice and assured support to industry members for managing the constantly changing environment in this segment.

Vision

The committee aims to provide an objective forum to its members for sharing innovative ideas and also provide a common platform for the industry members to come together and facilitate growth of Private Equity, Venture Capital Funds and Capital Markets in India.

The focus areas that Private Equity, Venture Capital and Capital Markets Committee of the chamber works on are described as follows:
