Introduction:

Newly elevated or promoted Managers/executives need a different skill set and attitude to perform managerial functions. They now have to experience a paradigm shift from a follower to a leader mindset. For example, because of their earlier brilliant performance in technical area these executives may have got promoted, now they have to get work done from people who may have been their colleagues at the same level.

On getting elevated to a managerial position from executive status he first needs to develop managerial attitude & skills. The new manager needs to acquire a macro perspective, a broad vision of his role as a manager. If he has to manage former peers he needs special skills and transition tips. He/she has to be aware and overcome some common mistakes like: Still trying to do things yourself, focusing on details rather than goals, refusing to make decisions, making promises you can’t keep, holding back and such others.

Man management skills like ability to delegate, to develop people, getting work done; leadership, problem solving and time and stress management skills are a must.
Managerial skills are as important as technical skills to get work done. The new manager needs to be equipped with these management skills like dealing with staff and customers, motivating staff. They can run their departments effectively with these skills.

Broad Objective:

To equip the newly elevated managers with special skills and mindset to help make them effective managers/seniors

  4. To equip participants with skills to plan, to use time productively & conduct meetings effectively as a newly promoted manager.
  5. To enhance people developing, team building skills, savvy interpersonal relationship and decision-making skills

Speaker Profile:

Dr. Lata Shetty is the founder of Mainstream HRD Training Centre. She has conducted more than 70,000 batches in more than 150 companies and organizations with 25 years of experience. Her qualification is B.Sc., M.S.W, and Ph D from Tata Institute of Social Science, Certified NLP Practitioner.

Dr. Lata Shetty is a Resource person at the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry since the last 20 years. She is a regular faculty at several training centres of financial institutions like SPBT and BSE.
She was a Columnist in Lok Satta – Lok mudra on HRD topics for 2 years; a Faculty at Orchid a Finishing School; faculty at Tata Institute of Social Science, visiting faculty at Somaiya Institute of Management. Worked as Head of Welfare Department in Godrej & Boyce for 4 years.
