Mentoring Session on Emotional Intelligence and Leadership
Build up Session One – January 13, 2015
For the benefit of SMEs, entrepreneurs and executives, the mentoring session had covered different aspects of leadership, attributes of emotional intelligence, and how to nurture followership. It has provided the tools to develop leadership skills and build long lasting relationships. Mr. Pushp Joshi and Dr. Ashis Sen, both from HPCL were the trainers for the day.
Workshop on Customer Service to Service Excellence
Build up Session two – August 6, 2015
Bombay Chamber has conducted workshop under its UKIERI project in Mumbai on Aug 6, 2015. The aim of the workshop was to understand the role customers play in the business, to improve the to interaction with customers, setting long term policies for employees. Participants were familiarised with business processes that centre around customer engagement. The Project Manager, Mr Pravin Rane made a presentation on UKIERI project, explained the future activities and SME development initiatives.
Workshop on Global and Cross Cultural Communication
Build up Session three – September 4, 2015
Bombay Chamber had organized a workshop on cross cultural business communication for Professionals working with MNCs, Exporters, Importers, Overseas service providers as well as Senior and Middle Level Management Executives, HR Professionals, Functional Heads, Representatives of SMEs and Entrepreneurs.
This was a build up activity whereby Bombay Chamber intends to promote UKIERI and project activities. The Chamber briefed members on possible TTT programs and outreach programs for SMEs for business improvement techniques.
The key topics for the workshop was:

- Countless Accents of English and the Problem of Pronunciation

The participants were able to:

- Develop global linguistic Cultural Competence
- Formulate Strategies to Avoid Miscommunication due to Cultural differences
The workshop was conducted by Dr. Paresh Joshi, Academic Head at Station- e Language Lab. His areas of specialization are Linguistics, Phonetics, English Language Teaching (ELT), Communication, Cross-Cultural Communication and Soft-Skills.
Workshop on interviewing skills for Recruiters, Managers & HR Professionals
Build up Session four – October 1, 2015
Under UKIERI project Bombay Chamber organised a build up session on Interviewing Skills for Recruiters, Managers & HR Professionals. The workshop was highly participative and enabled participants to gain practical experience of various interviewing techniques. The participants learned about how to ask effective questions and make professional evaluations of candidates’ performance.
Human resources are key elements to sustainability of any organisation. Hiring the right staff has always been vital. Finding someone who is capable of doing the job required now is one thing.Uncovering an individual whose skills can bring additional value to the organisation might be the added advantage.
Our training had equipped individuals with the skills and knowledge to conduct professional, Behavioural and Competency Based Interviews.
Mr. Ryan Baretto who is a Corporate Trainer, a Strategic Strengths Coach and an HR Consultant conducted the session. The key topics he covered were:
- Different interviewing techniques.
- Conducting a structured and comprehensive competency interview, using effective questioning and probing techniques.
- Interview Guide to plan and structure questions.
- Systematic evaluation of candidates’ performance in order to make an overall selection decision.
Participants consisted of mostly HR professionals, Head of Small and Medium size companies, Functional Heads.
Mr. Pravin Rane, Project Manager-UKIERI made a small presentation about UKIERI project and upcoming activities. Participants were briefed about UKIERI and Belfast Metropolitan College. Mr Rane thanked the sponsors viz. SIDBI and BCCI Trust for Economic and Management Studies. Mr Rane informed participants about Train the Trainer program that would be conducted by Bombay Chamber along with faculties from Belfast Metropolitan College.
Interviewing Skills for Recruiters, Managers and HR Professionals
Build up Session five – 5 th November 2015
Bombay Chamber organised training program on Interviewing Skills for Recruiters, Managers & HR Professionals under its UKIERI project. Build up Session six – 26th May 2016
Bombay Chamber had organised the Workshop on Customer Relationship Management using Digital Signals under its UKIERI project.
Most of the companies follow various ways to acquire and/or retain customers; very few realize how customers can actually help them to manage their business well. Innovation in products/services, market expansion and diversification of services all can be supported by interaction with customers & this interaction is prominently carried through digital media.
The workshop was conducted by Mr. Rohit Onkar .he is an experience digital marketing professional.
Topics Covered:
- The role of employee Redefining the traditional buying cycle
- Listening in a socially connected world
- Ensuring an omniscient customer experience
- Advanced customer segmentation using behavioral clues
- The need for online reputation management
- Advocacy in customer relationship management

The entire workshop was highly interactive with Q/A sessions in between. It will help the participants to learn the strategies of retaining customers through digital media.

In our endeavor do to help them achieve this, Bombay Chamber organized customized training program on “Building Relationships through Networking “under its UKIERI project on 13th April 2017.
Workshop was conducted by Ms. Vinee Ajmera – Founder, Personage Corp. with an experience almost two decades across customer service, training and curatorial practice.
Objectives of the workshop:
- Understand why networking is important
- To equip you with business etiquette for improved professional interactions
- Leverage personal and professional connections to build your network
- Recognise and take advantage of a networking opportunity when it arises
- Develop networking skills
- Networking Tips: The Do’s and Don’ts of Networking
The workshop was designed so as to facilitate participants to discover the significance of networking and to accept it as an important skill for the future. This was made easy by redefining networking as “building relationships” which made it seem a lot less daunting. Relevant and engaging videos, anecdotes, exercises, games and role plays were used to achieve these objectives.
It began with establishing the definition of networking and impact of abundance aura. The method to create and expand networks, building rapport and ice breaking conversations were discussed. In preparation for a networking conference, the importance and practices of first impressions, grooming, hygiene and business etiquette were delivered. Most importantly, the simple follow-up practices with sample networking letters were extremely valuable and much appreciated.
“No man is an island”- John Donne. The workshop received excellent participation owing to its relevance to personal and professional growth aspirations that cannot be realized alone. The participants helped achieve the objectives of the workshop with their active involvement and enthusiasm throughout the workshop. The experience sharing, receptiveness and high energy levels of the participants made the workshop a great winner with terrific feedback delivered on paper and in person individually to the trainer.
There were representatives from senior management, mid-management, junior management of organizations including BCCI, founders and entrepreneurs.

A good EA or PA who is on top of their game, can not only make a world of difference to their superiors and end up with a very professional reputation but also derive a good deal of satisfaction from their job. Executive and Personal Assistants for this, need to be equipped with the skills to use their resources efficiently, develop their presentation skills and use time wisely for productivity.
In our endeavor do to help them achieve this, Bombay Chamber organized customized training on “Capacity Building Program for EAs/ PAs “under its UKIERI project with two different batches on 18th May 2017 and 25th May 2017.
The Workshop was conducted by Ms. Vinee Ajmera – Founder, Personage Corp. with an experience almost two decades across customer service, training and curatorial practice.

The participants were provided various tools to assess their time management skills , plan and prioritise tasks and set goals.
The workshop received excellent involvement from the participants owing to its unique andragogical techniques. The participants helped achieve the objectives of the workshop with their active participation and enthusiasm throughout the workshop. The experience sharing, receptiveness and high energy levels of the participants made the workshop a great success with fantastic feedback. There were representatives of EAs and PAs across industries.

The workshop was designed so as to facilitate participants to discover the importance of Effectively working and managing emails using conditional formatting, creating important rules to organize incoming mails properly and quickly, Usage of proper views and groups. Working with multiple signatures and appointing delegates for inbox and calendar. Importance of archiving emails. Sharing and creating private meeting in calendar, importance of personal, private and confidential options. Assigning and managing task to self and other team mates.
All participants were actively involved sending emails and meeting request to each other to get acknowledge that all the options must work the way they are design for. They have created some sheets and presentation using google DOCS and were able to share with each other with different level of privilege.
Workshop on Lean Six Sigma
Build up Session Twelve – 13th Oct, 2017
Lean Six Sigma is a business management approach that combines Six Sigma methods and tools and the lean enterprise philosophy. This methodology supports the organisation in their initiatives for higher customer satisfaction and cost reduction.
In our endeavor to help SMEs achieve this, Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized customized training on “Lean Six Sigma “under its UKIERI project on 13th October 2017.
Workshop was conducted by Ms. Uma Lele – Six Sigma Black belt, Faculty Business Statistics, with 20+ years of industry experience & Corporate Six Sigma assignments with TATA Communications, Travellex, Citibank.
Objectives of the workshop were:
- Understanding Lean and Six Sigma concepts
- Statistical tools – overview
- How this methodology will minimize the variations / waste and help to build robust processes
In the beginning of session Ms. Minal Khadilkar, from Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry briefed the participants regarding Bombay chamber’s initiative under UKIERI project. She emphasized on Bombay Chamber’s initiative regarding support given to SME’s through such programmes.
The workshop was designed so as to facilitate participants to analyze their business scenarios and understand how Lean Six Sigma implementation can help streamline operations. Several relevant and engaging videos, industry examples were used to achieve these objectives.
The session started with a short Video clip on Lean Six Sigma. There were team work assignments where participants were eager to share their critical processes and how to apply the tools. Basic understanding of defect and waste was explained by considering the common industry processes. DMAIC methodology overview was given and the important tools used in each phase was discussed in detail.
The workshop received excellent involvement from the participants since they were confident this methodology shall help their organisation. The participants were from different backgrounds like IT, manufacturing, Export, B2B and all of them participated with immense enthusiasm throughout the workshop. The experience sharing, receptiveness and high energy levels of the participants made the workshop a great success with fantastic feedback.
