We are pleased to announce that the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry is planning to organize a Business Delegation to Cyprus, scheduled for December 03 to December 06, 2025, with the objective of strengthening bilateral commercial ties and exploring new avenues of collaboration between India and Cyprus.
We are honoured to share that our President, Ms. Pinky Mehta and International Trade and Commerce Committee Chairman, Mr. Viraj Kulkarni, were in Cyprus on June 15, 2025, for the official Cyprus-India roundtable discussion “Advancing a Strategic Economic Partnership” in the presence of Hon. Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi and His Excellency Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, President of the Republic of Cyprus. The Bombay Chamber was privileged to be the first Indian chamber represented at this important forum. They participated in a high-level business roundtable in Limassol aimed at enhancing bilateral trade and fostering new opportunities across key sectors.
The proposed delegation visit builds upon recent milestones in Indo-Cypriot commercial relations. Notably, India is set to receive Rs 10,000 crore in investments from Cypriot firms, marking the largest maritime FDI into India since 2005—a significant development that underscores Cyprus’ strategic role in India’s maritime and logistics landscape.
Building on the momentum of this engagement, the upcoming business delegation seeks to deepen collaboration and translate diplomatic intent into concrete business partnerships. Cyprus, a member of the European Union, besides on ground opportunities presents an attractive gateway for Indian businesses looking to expand into the EU, Eastern Mediterranean, and North African markets.
“It gives me great pleasure to welcome the initiative of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry to lead a business delegation to Cyprus in 2025. This endeavour stands as a timely follow-up to the landmark visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Cyprus in June 2025, during which our two countries reaffirmed their commitment to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The Joint Declaration signed during the visit sets a clear roadmap for enhanced cooperation across a wide range of sectors maritime, financial services, IT, pharmaceuticals, tourism, sustainability, and more. These areas align perfectly with the scope of the proposed delegation and underscore the immense potential for mutually beneficial partnerships.
Cyprus, as a gateway to the European Union and the Eastern Mediterranean, offers Indian businesses access to new markets, a stable investment environment, and a deep pool of professional and financial services. The planned B2B engagements and institutional interactions will enable delegates to not only explore opportunities but to help shape the next chapter in Indo-Cypriot commercial relations.
We welcome this delegation as a symbol of growing trust and ambition between our nations and look forward to facilitating meaningful business outcomes.
I commend the Bombay Chamber for its continued leadership in strengthening bilateral economic ties and wish the upcoming delegation a most productive and impactful visit to Cyprus.
I cannot bypass the tireless efforts of our Honorary Consul in Mumbai, Mr. Viraj Kulkarni, to bring together the business communities of India and Cyprus as an integral part of this effort. His unique business style and excellent communication skills constitute a great asset and a tremendous aid to this endeavour.”
