The Commerce Ministry has announced the extension of the current Foreign Trade Policy for six more months, in response to requests from Export Promotion Councils and leading exporters.
The extension has been made in view of the prevailing, volatile global economic and geopolitical situation. The Government has said that it will undertake more consultations before coming out with the new policy.
With effect October 1st, 2022, the Foreign Trade Policy will be extended by six months. Earlier the Government had extended the Foreign Trade Policy 2015-2020 till September 30, 2022.
The Foreign Trade Policy provides a set of guidelines and a framework for promoting trade and export of goods and services.
