Introduction:
The session will focus on the implications of 50% Reciprocal Tariffs imposed by Mr Trump on Indian origin goods, effective from 27th August 2025, which has created a serious impact on Trade. Our exports to the U.S.A were 86 Billion dollars in F. Y 2025 – almost 20% of our total exports. Needless to say, we need to understand the overall impact and take necessary steps to achieve the target of 2 Trillion dollars exports by 2030.
Understanding the global scenario, therefore, has become very critical. We also need to see how we expand our footprint in Global Trade. “Friendshoring” “Nearshoring” and various FTAs we are negotiating, are the most important strategies, as the current FTAs are comprehensive in nature and include goods, services, IPR, Technology, e-commerce etc.
