As per the annual Economic Survey report of Maharashtra for 2022-23, tabled by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis the state’s economy is expected to grow by 6.8 percent, against the projected growth of the national economy at 7 percent.

 

The report also showed a decline in the overall growth rate of the state’s economy as compared to the previous year, with the agriculture and allied activities sector projected to grow by 10.2 percent, the industrial sector by 6.1 percent, and the services sector by 6.4 percent.

 

The report noted that the state’s nominal gross state domestic product (GSDP) for 2022-23 is expected to be Rs 35,27,084 crore, with a per capita income of Rs 2,42,247. The average share of Maharashtra in the all-India nominal GDP was the highest among the states at 14 percent, the report said.The report also highlights the state’s forest cover, which accounts for 16.5 percent of the total geographical area, lower than the goal of 33 percent envisaged in the National Forest Policy.
