Amongst the large businesses, Real Estate remains the most under- researched business. As a result many policy decisions as well as board room decisions remain unaligned to the ground realities

Key Objectives :

To demonstrate some of the popular myths and develop new insights about Real Estate. Use this new lens to suggest innovative and practical solutions towards alignment of  Regulation with Business Realities

Deepesh Salgia :

An IITM, SPJIMR and UCLA Alumni, Deepesh Salgia has a professional experience of 28 years. Currently, Director – Shapoorji Pallonji Real Estate, Deepesh Salgia has also worked with Tata group and Mahindra group.During his 23 years with Shapoorji, he has handled almost all aspects of Real Estate -ranging from Liaisioning to Land transactions, from Sales to Strategic Planning and fromDesign to Dispute Management. He has also handled some very complex land transactions at Shapoorji. His core strength lies in providing a fine balance between academic rigour and the ground realties in real estate.Publicly, he is more known for assignments that he had undertaken as his passion atShapoorji. Firstly, for re-releasing Hindi film Mughal-e-Azam by converting it from B&Winto colour (2004) - a first kind of project in the world cinema and later for converting the same film into a Musical play in 2016 which became the first Broadway style musicals from India.In his bog, Deep Impressions , he focuses on giving rare perspectives on wide ranging topics viz, Real Estate, Entertainment, Strategy, Literature etc. His blogs have been published in ToI, ET, Moneycontrol, Business World, Business Standard, India Today,NDTV, movietalkies.com etc.

Ashok Barat :

Ashok Barat is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and a Fellow Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. He graduated in Commerce from the Allahabad University in 1975 with the Chancellor’s Gold Medal and was a rank holder and winner of the A F Ferguson Award for the best paper in Auditing in the examinations conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.He began his career with Hindustan Lever Limited and worked in positions of increasing responsibility, both in India and overseas, with global and family corporations of repute. He is the Past President of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Member of the Managing Committee of ASSOCHAM and deeply involved in the establishment of the Centre of Mediation and Conciliation being set up by the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He retired as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Forbes & Company Limited. Post retirement, after 40 years of corporate life, he is on the Board of several corporations and consults independently for various businesses, taking particular interest in mentoring start-ups.
