Webinar on Recalibration of the Film Business-The Way Forward - May 27, 2020

The Indian Film Industry, the most prolific and largest in the world, like other industries is calibrating to cope with the new normal in a post-Covid world. While there are a lot of films awaiting release, there are some, still stuck in various stages of production and with theatres under an unprecedented lockdown the question of the right time and platform to release films has never been more pertinent than it is today. Big-ticket films like Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi and Kabir Khan's 83 await a theatrical release while others like Gulabo Sitabo are looking to OTT platforms to reach their audience.

In these unprecedented times, when film shoots have been stalled, theatres shut and no clear mandate on the road ahead, the BCCI presents a high profile panel representing different stakeholders - studios, exhibitors and creators to present their insightful perspectives about the film industry and its roadmap for the future.

To answer some of these questions & give their perspective on the Way Forward, the Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry presents a high-profile panel covering all aspects of the Business of the Indian Film industry.

Dinesh Vijan, 37 years, is a highly successful Indian film producer and the founder of Maddock Films, based out of Mumbai, India. Vijan topped his MBA in 2003, dived deep into a lucrative banking job and was positioned to helm his family’s transport, logistic and finance business. However, he gave it all up 17 years ago, to pursue his love for films and carve out a niche of his own.

Never looking back, Vijan learned that the only way to make a film is to make it honestly. The stable of Maddock Films is undeniably distinctive. Some of the gems in Vijan’s mixed bag of films include, Being Cyrus, Love AajKal, Cocktail, Go Goa Gone, Finding Fanny, Badlapur, Hindi Medium, Stree and Baala.

If a story resonates with Vijan emotionally, he will make it. He believes every film can find it’s audience, if made within a sensible budget, with the intention to tell the story you initially set out to tell, in the best way possible.

With the advent of new technologies and the rapidly changing sensibilities of the audience, Vijan has taken his operation up a notch.
