Training on Safe Bolting Operations & Maintenance - Jan 16, 2020

Objective of Training : Learn the principles of joint integrity, basics of bolting and various bolt tightening methods. The course material complies with ASME standards.

Significance of Controlled Bolting: Industrial safety has gained massive attention in recent times, since safe work practices ensure high performance, productive and motivated people. With companies becoming more conscious of safety at workplace, they now require certain levels of training for tool operators before they are permitted to work on the job.
Bolting is a basic but extremely critical activity in installation and maintenance of an equipment/structure. Since long, industries have been unaware of the importance of precise controlled bolting to ensure safety and productivity in their tight project schedules. Hence, it is imperative to highlight the significance of controlled bolting right at the operator level. In uncontrolled method of bolting, the joint integrity is compromised as the tightening process would depend heavily on the operator’s judgement. Controlled Bolting ensures tightening of fasteners at a known measurable value; which ensures that fasteners in a joint are tightened evenly thus, maintaining joint integrity.
Controlled bolting also helps in minimising injuries associated with bolted joint assembly. Hazards such as hand injuries (pinch points), leakage leading to fire, structural joint failure, can be controlled through proper education on bolting methods and technology.
