Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Work Place – Implementation challenges and Practical Issues - Dec 14, 2017

The increasing number of women, in all shifts, at the workplace working in proximity with their male supervisors and co-workers can lead to unpleasant encounters between them when their normal familiar interaction comes to be viewed as rude or insensitive.   Given the wide range of human behaviour, the cultural background and the circumstances, an employer must have an understanding of the Act to sift genuine and hurtful behaviour from the flippant and the frivolous as well as the real from the imaginary ones.

The Act has stringent requirements in the constitution of an Internal Complaints Committee for every workplace and its composition has specific requirements with regard to the women representatives on it. Practical difficulties in the constitution of the ICC will be dealt with during the course of the seminar.

To update its members and deliberate on the opaque areas in the precise understanding of the Protection of Women against Sexual Harassment at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 amongst employers who are required to comply with its stringent provisions, the Bombay Chamber is organizing the captioned Workshop on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the Board Room of Bombay Chamber, 3rd Floor, Mackinnon Mackenzie Building, Ballard Estate, Mumbai 400 001.
