Certificate of Origin is an important document required to be prepared by the exporter. This Certificate of Origin is of two types: Non-preferential & Preferential. There are certain countries where the importer is given concession in import duty if the Preferential Certificate of Origin is provided by the exporter.

There are certain rules and regulations under which this Preferential Certificate of Origin is issued. The exporter should be aware about the formalities. European Union also extend the benefit of concession in duty for the goods of Indian Origin.

The European Union (EU) has introduced a self-certification scheme for certifying the rules of origin under GSP from 1.1.2017 onwards.
