UP Government proposes temporary relaxation from labour laws to Industries subject to conditions   May 08, 2020

In a Press Release dated 6th May 2020 from the Information & Public Relations Department, the State of UP has announced important cabinet decisions to combat the effects of COVID 19 on the economy and the industry in the State.
In so far as Labour Laws are concerned, the Cabinet has decided to grant exemption from several statutes for a period of three years. to revive the industry and encourage setting up of new establishments. 
The exemption will be subject to conditions as may be specified.
However, there will be no relaxation from the following statutes:
a. The Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1976  
b. Employee Compensation Act 1923
c. The Building & Construction Workers Act, 1996.
d. Laws relating to employment of Women & Children
e. Section 5 of the Payment of Wages Act, 1936 which prescribes the time limit for payment of wages.
