MHA directives to Employers on Migrant Labour   Mar 28, 2020

In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 10(2) of the Disaster Management Act, 2002, the Ministry of Home Affairs has vide orders dated 29th March 2020, interalia, issued the following directions to the employers and landlords of the migrant workers:

1. Employers must make payment of wages to the workers at their work place, on the due date and without any deductions for the period their establishments are under closure during the lockdown period.

2. Wherever the workers, including the migrants,are living in rented accommodation, the landlords of those properties shall not demand rent for a period of one month.

3. If any landlord forces labourers or students to vacate their premises they shall be liable for action under the Act.
