Prohibitory Orders issued by the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Greater Mumbai, under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.   Mar 22, 2020

Members are informed that the Dy Commissiosner of Police and Executive Magistrate, Greater Mumbai, under powers conferred upon him under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code and the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951, has issued orders prohibiting any presence or movement of 5 or more persons in public or private places, including religious places,and also any vehicles carrying such persons for any reasons whatsoever.  The order however exempts the following:
 
1. Emergency Services
 
2. Establishments providing essential services like:
a. Food, Vegetables,milk supplies, ration and grocery stores.
b.Hospitals, medicines, pharma and related establishments, pathalogy laboratories,medical/nursing colleges
c. Telephone & Internet Services
d. Electricity, Petroleum, Oil and Energy related.
e. Banking, Stock Exchange, Clearing Corporations, Depositories, Stock Brokers and SEBI registered particpants operating through these institutions.
f. IT and IT enabled services and Data Centres prov iding services for Critical National and International Infrastructure and needed for the above essential and emergency      services.
g. Media
h. Port
i.Services providing Home Delivery of food, groceries and essential commodities;
j. Drinking water supply and maintenance
k. Godowns and warehousing related to all of the above.
l. Trucks/Tempos carrying goods and manpower related to above services.

3. Government/semi-governmentagencies and their officials on duty.

4. The Zonal DCP in emergent/special cases are empowered to grant exemption.

The orders have come into force, in the areas under the control of the Commissioner of Police, Greater Mumbai, with effect from 05.01 hours on 23rd March 2020 and will remain in force till 24.00 hours on 31st March 2020 unless withdrawn earler.

Any person contravening the order will be punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
