Considering India has a huge demographic capital in terms of a large working age population, the quality of this human force is very important element which has a bearing on future industrial growth. The industry worldwide looks for skilled people that it can employ without much effort. In this context, the Bombay Chamber decided to have a new committee dedicated for the cause of skill development which shall strive for increased employability of Indian youth in a backward area.
This committee is a transition from earlier committee on “Human Resource Management”. Presently, the committee comprises of the representatives of manufacturing and service industry, corporate administrative heads of vocational training institutes and consultants. The committee is presently chaired by Mr. Sumit Banerjee, Vice- Chairman, Reliance Cement Company Pvt. Ltd.
Facilitate creation of industry-oriented skilled human resources and promotion of greater employability by evolving sustainable and replicable model.
Over a 3-4 years’ horizon, the chamber and the committee wish to achieve the following:
To establish and run an exemplary technical training institute in a backward region of Maharashtra on PPP basis
Provide a national-level platform for sharing and discussing issues pertaining to vocational technical education and employability
