In the past, issues related to taxes were dealt with by two separate committees, namely the Direct Taxation Committee and the Indirect Taxation Committee. There was no specific dealing with issues of Accountancy. In view of the diverse emerging issues, e.g., IFRS, GST, DTC, requirements to align SAP to e-administer these taxes, all tax and related issues will now be dealt with in a single committee : Taxation & Accountancy chaired by Mr. F.N. Subedar, Chairman, Tata Services Ltd., with three functional groups : Direct Taxation led by Mr. Ketan Dalal of Price water house Coopers Pvt. Ltd., Indirect Taxation led by Mr. Dilip Save of Hindustan Unilever Ltd. and Accountancy led by Mr. N. Venkatram of Deloitte Haskins & Sells.
To facilitate harmonization of laws to make them user friendly for all stakeholders and to develop a framework of implementation by working with the Government.
The Committee will undertake among others, activities such as preparation and presentation of representations and Budget memoranda, and organize lectures, workshops and seminars for dissemination of information on important topics. It is also undertaking a specific study on “Creating harmony between IFRS, GST, DTC through an efficient SAP” for discussions with all stakeholders in government and industry.
