Since its inception in 1836, the Bombay Chamber has dedicated itself, not only to economic development of industry, but has promoted the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility intimately involved with the infrastructural development of Mumbai through the efforts of its members.    


The Bombay Chamber is pleased to invite nominations for its annual Civic Awards and Good Corporate Citizen Awards.  The awards have given to publicly acknowledge and honour conspicuous achievement by corporate organization to improve environmental, social and cultural metrics in by way of service to the community, in addition to outstanding operational performance. It also recognizes businesses that have shown innovation, creativity and sustained commitment to corporate responsibility. Civic Awards and Good Corporate Citizen Award were instituted in 1984 and are presented every year in the Foundation Day function of the Chamber. 

Civic Awards : 

The Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry created the Annual Civic Awards in the year 1984 to recognize corporate organizations and institutions which consistently contribute towards the beautification and betterment of environment, social development, art, culture & heritage, in and around Mumbai.   
Objectives : 
  • To promote an active social, environmental and civic conscience among member companies.

  • To recognise and reward best practices in these areas and other related aspects.

  • To present replicable models of these projects, enabling best practice sharing with other companies.

Award Good Corporate Citizen Awards 2016-17 :

The Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry instituted the Good Corporate Citizen Award in 1994 to recognize and honour conspicuous achievement by corporates in terms of service to the civic community in addition to outstanding operational performance. The Bombay Chamber believes that industry has a major role to play in the betterment of society by making a positive contribution to the community. The parameters of evaluation were business performance, performance in industrial relations, environment, safety and occupational health, employee welfare, ethics and customer satisfaction, and social investment/CSR. 


Objectives : 

To recognize and honour conspicuous achievement by corporate organizations by way of service to the civic community, in addition to outstanding business performance.


Categories : 

A. Large Corporate: (Turnover above 2000 Crore in previous year)

B. Medium Corporate: (Turnover above 500 to 1,999 Crore in previous year) 

C. Small and Micro Companies : (Turnover below Rs.500 Crore)

D. Banks & Financial Institutions

Eligibility for the Awards 

  • Any organisation can apply for more than one category in Civic Awards.

  • Award winners of previous year are not eligible to apply for the same category but can apply for a different category / all categories.  

  • Activities undertaken in partnership with civil society as implementing partner organizations can also apply.  However, the activities should not be a part of the normal business activities of the organisation.


Process for Nomination

  • Applicants are requested to fill up the application form for the relevant category

  • Please attach testimonials, photographs and supporting documents as an annexure wherever necessary.

  • Kindly attach a note on impact of the programme and future sustenance plans of activities undertaken by the applicant with the application form (not more than 500 words).  The guidelines for preparation of the note are - Clearly define vision and goal of the activity, strongly develop business case, indicate senior level commitment.

Selection Procedure

Selection of the award winners will be done by a panel of independent judges drawn amongst eminent persons from industry, judiciary, academia, government, sector experts and media. 

Publicity to Winners

The Award winners will be announced on the 182nd Foundation Day of the Chamber in the month of September-October 2017.  The winners will accept the award on-stage at the Foundation Day Celebrations. Winners will get recognition in the publications of the Chamber as well as on our website.
